Alpha -  Solid 18K Yellow Gold, 17 Jewels, Curved Tear Drop Lugs featuring a High Quality Mechanical Wind Movement (circa '40s)

Description/Comments:
This is an all original Forties Alpha 18K Solid Yellow Gold wristwatch featuring curved tear drop lugs and a high quality Swiss 17 Jewels mechanical wind movement.  It is an absolutely beautiful timepiece and has recently been serviced and is keeping accurate time.

Case:
The round shaped gold toned case is made of 18K Solid Yellow Gold and features very curved tear drop lugs and measures 1 5/16" in diameter. It is 1/4" thick.  The crown is located at the 3 o'clock position.  The back of the snap down case is marked Alpha, FAb Suisse, 9503, and 575901.  The inside of the back cover has the gold marking: 18K 0,750.

Dial:

The round dial has a chalk white background. The Roman Numeral hour markers are applied gold at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions and dots at the remaining positions.  It has dauphine-style hour and minute hands and a sleek solid gold toned sweeping seconds hand.  It is marked Alpha.  There is a 60 seconds/minutes scale bordering the edge of the dial marked in black.  

The crystal is in wonderful condition and is flat on the surface and slightly curved at the sides and is raised 4MM above the case. 

          
Band:
A genuine snake skin strap that is sewn around the edges and has a gray and black color.   It has a gold tone buckle.  The total length is 9."

Movement:
A Swiss made Mechanical Wind with a like-new and high quality 17 jewel movement. The movement also is marked Swiss Made, Seventeen Jewels, 8503, Alpha, Unadjusted 17 Jewels.
