| This is a very scarce 50s wristwatch indeed. It is surely influenced by the Sci-Fi craze of the late fifties. There are some indicators to place its origin to 1957. The first is an entry for a 1955 Fortis Eden Roc manual in the Wristwatches book by Brunner & Pfeiffer-Belli and also an image of a similar watch on the Fortiswatch website in the History section for 1957. However, both of those have a plain cream dial embellishment whereas this has the shiny "Sci-Fi" influenced shape. This watch is in excellent cosmetic and running condition, and is an absolutely beautiful timepiece. It keeps accurate time. | |

| The case is all stainless steel and is 35mm across (not including the crown.) The case back is inscribed with Fortis and the crown symbol, Waterproof, Swiss, All stainless steel, FortiFlex automatic, non-magnetic and incabloc. There's also a number "6080B". | |

| The very unusual round dial is cream in color with thin silver minute markers with black dots at the hours except 12, 3, 6 and 9. The dial features a highly polished shaped rim decoration which takes the form of rounded diamond on the outer edge and a circle in the center with detailing at the 4 major compass points. A calendar window is at the 6 o'clock position that seems to "peep" through this rim decoration to great effect (a fifties interpretation of a window in a flying saucer?) It is signed Fortis with the Fortis crown logo. Below that ii is marked 21 jewels and above the 6 o'clock position it is marked automatic and Eden Roc in a fancy script font. At the very bottom is the Swiss Made signature. | |
