Concord - (circa 1930s) 8 Days "Car" Alarm Watch, Extraordinary Overall Original Condition, High Quality Swiss Made with an all Brass Construction. Running Strong and Keeping excellent time.
Description/Comments:
Here is a unique relic of by-gone-times. This is a high quality Swiss made Concord 8 Days Car Alarm Watch (circa 1930s) in absolutely extraordinary overall original condition. It features an all brass construction and a working alarm feature. It is in excellent working condition and keeping excellent time. I was told from the "old timer" that I purchased this piece from that people would use this watch in their cars and then carry it with them when they traveled as a bed-side alarm clock.
Case:
The large round shaped case is hinged and made of all brass with a circular stand/holder. The case measures 2 1/2" in circumference and it is 5/8" Wide. The original crown is at the 12 o'clock position and features a center button that works the alarm setting. The alarm is set by pushing down on this button and the alarm hand moves counter-clockwise 1 minute in increment every time the button is pushed down.
On the back of the case there is a small switch that operates the alarm. It is marked Alarm on one side and Stop on the other side.
Dial:
The dial is in absolutely extraordinary nice condition and all original with an off white colored background. It is signed Concord under the 12 o'clock position. And Alarm above the 6 o'clock position. 8 Days and Swiss at the 6 o'clock position. The hour and minute hands are radium-style and are gold in color with a white center section.
The hour markers are Arabic numerals at all 12 positions and are a very shiny gold color. The alarm hand is straight and gold in color. There are radium coated dots at each of the hour markers. A 60 minutes/seconds scale borders the outer edge of this circular rim.
The original thick glass crystal is in wonderful condition with no scratches and is very clear. It is raised slightly above the surface of the case.
Movement:
Extraordinarily large mechanical wind that is really clean and in "new like" condition!
