More Than a Century of Wristwatches...and Still Ticking...

Wristwatches have been around for a little over a century. They have evolved into many styles, shapes, sizes and features. Prices range from a few dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some people are now saying that the high-tech revolution, which includes a clock on nearly every modern-day device, could lead to the end of the wristwatch as our typical "teller of time," and cause the wristwatch to go out of style (similar to what happened to pocket watches many decades ago.)

  • I am in the process of writing a detailed article that will explore the evolution of the wristwatch, and will look at its social and technical use in today's world. Look for this article to be be posted on this page very soon.
